Tank Craft – Panzer III

Panzer III – German Army Light Tank , Operation Barbarossa, 1941 written by Dennis Oliver and published by Pen and Sword Books – £16.99 – Softcover – Pages 64.

This Tank Craft book is part of a series from the Pen & Sword, which is clearly aimed at the small model maker audience. It contains precise information from a number of experts, photographs, diagrams and beautiful photos of finished models. The book contains a number of colour schemes and this is probably my favourite part of the book due to the excellent photos used. The book does have a little historical information but it is limited.

This Tank craft book about the Panzer III is clearly not aimed at me because I’m not a model maker, but I can clearly see these are excellent books and do what they are made for. The information is concise, clear and accurate, all the pictures and diagrams are large clean and of a high standard which really make the book pop. These books remind me of the Haynes car manuals that tell you everything in detail about the car, well this is the tank version and they’ve made a really good job. While it’s not aimed at me I would still give this book a good 4.5 stars.

Rating: 4.5 out of 5.

Hello, I have been studying all aspects of history for about 25 years. I have a BA History from the University of Bedfordshire. My historical areas of interest are anything really, but I specialise in 19th - 20th century Britain, America and Ireland. I am also strongly aligned with most military history, really enjoying WW2 and the US Civil War. Chuck in the king or queen and Bob's your uncle.
